Meet the Maker: Kylie from Mae Laine

At Big Hug Box we're a community. We're interested in the people receiving the boxes, the friends and family gifting them and the team behind the scenes making it come to life. The goal of "Meet the Maker" is to introduce to you the people behind the brands we use in our boxes and show the level of understanding, care and passion that goes into every part of the boxes we send out.

We are always so thrilled when businesses jump on board with their talent and expertise to help people facing cancer. Mae Laine is the supplier of our "Comfort" Bath Soak. Beautifully presented this bath soak has Epsom salts and lavender to help patients relax after treatment. We love that this bath soak has Epsom salts to help detox after harsh chemo concoctions. If you haven't tried this product, it is simply a must.

On top of this, The Big Hug Box has been extremely grateful to not only have Mae Laine's beautiful products included but have been overwhelmed by the generosity shown through their latest "Give Back" campaign. Thankyou Kylie for your support and making sure that our patients receive the most beautiful products to promote and encourage self care and relaxation through such challenging side effects of treatment.

Self Care for Cancer PatientsMeet the Maker

How did you get started with your business?

By a mishap back in 2013 when I spilt my cuppa tea in the bath and it sparked a lightbulb moment. I ordered raw ingredients and packaging that night online. I launched Mae Laine at a local Hunter Valley Wine Country market in May 2013. I have been hand blended bath salts and evolving my product collection ever since.

Three words to describe your product?

  Unique bath infusions

How did you get involved with The Big Hug Box?

Lisa reached out to me as a local brand to create a blend that would give so much more, a relaxing experience for those going through treatment to feel pampered.

Has cancer affected your life?

Yes, I have lost both my grand parents to aggressive forms of lung and uterus cancers. I have close friends have lost their parents to cancer also, its a very emotional journey. Having a big hug box to gift can make all the difference during this time.

What is your favourite small business?

I'm currently crushing on crochet. I'm working with Maryanne from Belisama Handmade (Newcastle) to create an exclusive organic cotton spa range to compliment my collection.

What song lifts you when you've had a tough day?

I love all of Annie Lennox songs. My favourite album is Diva from the 90's. Now I'm showing my age.

Any tips for your product?

Just enjoy, be in the moment. Selfcare is vital to life. My collection of all natural bath salts has been created to offer moments of relaxation and wellness in every blend for the skin + soul.

Who gives the best hugs in your life?

My girls do, my inspiration behind starting my brand which is a combination of their middle names. To pretty not to use and it just flowed together so nicely.
