Delivering brighter days

This week, The Big Hug Box delivered some extra special packages to the Maitland Private Hospital. Maitland Christian School raised over $1,200 for the Big Hug Box, with a crazy hair day for the students. This allowed for 15 Big Hug Boxes to be handed out to patients undergoing cancer treatment at the hospital.
Big Hug Box founder Lisa Greissl loves being able to deliver these special boxes, “it’s the little things that people remember and can really turn someone’s day around. With community support, we can continue to make an incredible impact in the cancer community– in the lives of both patients and dedicated researchers.”

The Big Hug Box helps people to express their love and support when words are hard to find. Filled with practical and specially curated gifts, the box helps to lift spirits and spread positivity. “Especially in these times of COVID, our purpose in the community has become even more important,” says Lisa. With patients unable to have loved ones by their side in times of isolation and compromised immunity, the Big Hug Box has become a valuable way of ensuring human connections.
Hospital CEO Peter Cizzio says, “Thoughtful gestures like this make all the difference for someone undergoing cancer treatment.” A huge thank you to the students at Maitland Christian School and the staff at Maitland Private Hospital for making this magic happen. “Thank you for making the day brighter for our patients,” Peter Cizzio.
